PHS 680 - Career Success: 1st Step in a 1000 Mile Journey

This course introduces the learners to the affective domain skill sets essential for success in a work environment. The course starts with an exploration of self where students discover their emotional intelligence and strengths. They also learn about qualities and characteristics, beyond talent, that are crucial for success. Students start defining and setting goals for their professional journey ahead. The course then explores various aspects of team dynamics. In this section, the developmental framework for teams is explored and students learn about best practices for aligning individual and team goals and techniques to improve teamwork, collaboration, and team productivity. Concepts are reinforced through reflective exercises, discussions, assignments, and presentations. Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 2 credits
