SW 649 - Research and Adaptation

Prerequisite, graduate screenwriting major. Great stories are all around us. They are frequently created from life experiences and events, modern or historical; and more than 50% of Hollywood films and series are adapted from other sources. In this course, students will generate story ideas based on existing material; develop research abilities and research areas relating to their story ideas; create pitches; then a complete treatment, scene, and bibliography or summary of their research. Letter grade. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
