CS 612 - Advanced Numerical Methods


Prerequisite, MATH 350, or instructor consent. Students will learn advanced fundamental mathematics and algorithms of the basic computational methods required to succeed in advanced study in the computational sciences. In the first part of the course, students will learn computer arithmetic, software development, high performance computing, and become proficient with the use of Python and other programming languages. The second part of the course will focus on scientific computing which is concerned with design and analysis of algorithms for solving mathematical problems arising in many fields, especially in science and engineering. Letter grade. (Offered fall semester.) 3 credits
