ECON 422 - Behavioral Economics and Finance II: Institutions


(Same as ECON 522.) Prerequisites, ECON 421 , ECON 471 , or permission from the instructor. This course is delivered through a series of seminar style presentations dealing with research in the design of efficient economic and financial institutions that consider the behavioral proclivities of participating human agents. Scientific journal articles and other academic papers assigned each week will constitute the primary course materials. Multiple weekly seminars accompanied by student developed Power Point slides will be presented by class participants followed by subsequent class discussion. Each seminar presentation will last approximately 30 minutes duration and be the sole responsibility of a particular student. Graduate students will mentor undergrads in the development of articulate presentations. All enrolled students must within one week deliver a 300-600 word summary of each seminar presented which demonstrates their comprehension of the economic or financial institution that was presented and discussed. Letter grade. (Offered every year.) 3 credits
