ENV 250 - Environmental Biology, Lec/Lab

The evolution and diversity of life on Earth is increasingly impacted by environmental change. Now more than ever, it is important for environmental scientists and policymakers to understand the evolutionary history of ecosystems, how we measure change, and why biodiversity is important. In this course, students will learn fundamental biology themes in ecology and evolution and be able to apply them to environmental problems. Students will learn the basics of physiology, development, anatomy, ecology, and conservation genetics as they pertain to fungi, plants, and animals. Topics will have an environmental science focus, but the learning objectives of this course will follow a typical biology curriculum for ecology and evolution. This course includes a lecture and a required laboratory component held at different times. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered fall semester.) 4 credits
