LEAD 411 - Teachers as Leaders

(Same as LBST 411.) Prerequisite, Junior standing. Teacher Leadership is the process by which highly effective and empowered teachers serve as catalysts to facilitate continuous improvement resulting in an enhanced culture of teacher engagement, student learning, and achievement. This course will examine critical human capital issues and innovative strategies designed to drive higher academic achievement for all and will introduce the concept of teacherpreneurs, teacher leaders who choose to remain as classroom teachers for part of the day. The course content will focus on building skills to become effective teacher leaders and identifying potential roles within their schools to impart change. Letter grade. This course may be repeated for credit. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
