CES 203 - Introduction to Research Methods in Education


(Same as LBST 203 .) Prerequisite, Liberal Studies major or Community Educational Studies major. This course will introduce students to research in education. Students will learn the skills necessary to conduct educational research and to evaluate others’ research. Students will be introduced to the central methods that social scientists use to gather information about phenomena in education, along with “best practices” in research design that help ensure data quality and usefulness. This entails learning about different research methodologies, ethics, positionality, and data analysis processes. Students will design their own research projects based on their personal interests. Letter grade. This course may be repeated for credit. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
