CES 206 - Schools in Society


Prerequisite, CES 102 , or consent of instructor. This course examines the history, sociology, and philosophy of education in the United States. In addition, the course reviews school formations, current policies and practices in education, and the relationships between schools, their communities, and the larger society. Students will examine how public and non-public schools are organized and operate and will explore factors impacting educational equity, access and student success. Some sections may be restricted to Community Educational Studies majors, or minors, or secondary education minors only.  Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. This course may be repeated for credit. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
