PHRM 216 - Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Education in Europe

Prerequisite, PHRM 100, Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Experience Program (APEx) Students only. The practice of pharmacy and the education of pharmacy students can differ widely based on the country, and some differences truly need to be seen to be believed. Students in this course will obtain knowledge about the US practice of pharmacy in the community pharmacy and the hospital setting, as well as the pharmacy education process, so that they will be better prepared to identify the differences in pharmacy practice and pharmacy education in various European countries. Students will spend three classroom hours learning about the US pharmacy practice and educational system, at Chapman’s Orange campus, before departing for the European country to be studied. During the two weeks, in country, students will visit various community and hospital pharmacies, and various pharmacy schools in multiple cities. Letter grade. To be determined (Offered summer session.) 3 credits
