SW 317 - Adaptation and Research for Writers

Prerequisites, junior standing, SW 128 in the Screenwriting major or Writing for Film and Television major, or instructor consent. Great stories are all around us. They are frequently created from life experiences and events, modern or historical; and more than 50% of Hollywood films and series are adaptions from other sources. In this class, students will generate story ideas based on existing material; research areas relating to their story ideas; and develop pitches, treatments, and/or script pages based on their source materials. Letter grade. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
