POSC 353 - Ethnicity in the Middle East


(Same as PCST 353 .) Prerequisite, sophomore standing. Most Middle Eastern states have a clear ethnic majority group. However, there is also substantial ethnic diversity. For instance, the region includes Arab, Turkish, Persian, Jewish, Kurdish, and Amazigh populations. This course explores the role of ethnic nationalism, ethno-religions, and ethnic diversity in shaping Middle East politics. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
