SPAN 441 - Spanish Phonetics and Phonology

Prerequisite, any 300 level Spanish course or consent of instructor. After a general introduction to the subfields of phonetics and phonology, this course focuses on the description, production, and representation of Spanish sounds. The sound system, distinctive suprasegmental features such as stress and intonation, and syllable patterns of Spanish are analyzed through various exercises. Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
