ENG 339 - World Literature from 1900 to the Present

Students read chosen works of non-Anglophone literature from 1900 to the present. Emphasis may vary to focus on the relationship of literature to other arts and cultures. Authors may include Achebe, Akhmatova, Beckett, Bely, Borges, Calvino, Césaire, Kafka, Kawabata, Lispector, Lorca, Lu, Mahfouz, Marquez, Pirandello, Proust, Queneau, Rilke, Rulfo. This course can be used to satisfy either the diversity or the post-1850 distribution requirement for English majors. (Offered alternate years.) 3 credits
