MUS 468 - Guitar Literature and History

Prerequisite, pass MUS 102 or MUS 102B with a “C” or better, or consent of instructor. An overview of guitar, lute and vihuela literature from the Renaissance to the present in historical and cultural context. Includes early lute and vihuela literature of the Renaissance, four- and five-course Baroque guitar literature, Classical guitar literature, and six-string guitar literature from early 19th century to the present. (Offered fall semester, alternate years.) 3 credits
