MUS 324 - Audio Recording Techniques

Prerequisites, pass MUS 244 with a “C” or better and pass MUS 128 or MUS 133 with a C or better. This course will train students to create professional-level recordings by introducing crucial techniques in microphone selection and placement, digital signal processing, recording with computer-based systems, mixing and mastering techniques, as well as aesthetic considerations in the creation of these recordings. The class focuses on the reproduction of acoustic performances (such as chamber music and Jazz). Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits
