COM 100 - Introduction to Communication Studies


Prerequisite, communication studies or global communication and world languages major or consent of the instructor. This course is designed to introduce students to the many facets of the Communication Studies discipline, including an overview of human communication processes, research, and professional options. In addition to learning how communication is studied and measured, students will gain real experience through participation in research activities. Special attention will be given to available student supports which may include- but not limited to- access to individualized program advisement, library resources, career counseling, study abroad programs, and exposure to School of Communication student organizations and events. This course is required for all communication studies and global communication and world languages majors and must receive a minimum grade of B- or course must be repeated. Letter grade. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
