FS 335 - Exploring Korean Film Industry and Culture


(Same as: FS 535.) Prerequisite, consent of instructor.  A two-week intensive travel course that explores the historical, cultural and industrial factors behind the global success of the South Korean cinema in the 21st century. Students will visit various sites of the Korean film industry and gain first-hand experience of the robust film culture in Seoul and Busan, the two centers of the Korean entertainment industry. Students will see major players in film production, distribution, and exhibition, and will meet with filmmakers and industry experts to gain insight into the inner workings of industry professionals. Students will also visit historical sites and engage with Korean traditional arts and culture.  Letter grade. TBD (Offered interterm.) 3 credits
