PHYS 220 - Scientific Computing I

(Same as MATH 220.) Students discover computation as a tool for scientific exploration. Students learn to complement mathematical methods with numerical methods and data visualization using Python and other modern programming languages. Students learn to prepare reports with interactive notebooks and to analyze data with signal processing and statistical learning methods. Students will focus mainly on small and medium-size problems and on using existing libraries for their solutions and simulations. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
