HIST 230 - Chicano/a History and Culture to 1865

This course surveys the historical experience of people of Mexican descent in the “American Southwest” and the formation of Chicano/a identity and culture before 1865. Topics include the pre-Columbian past, the Spanish colonial era, the Mexican national period, the Texas revolution, the U.S.-Mexico War, and the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.
