MATH 280 - Mathematics Tutoring

Prerequisite, MATH 101  or equivalent. The course will provide an exploration of the theory and practice of math peer tutoring and will provide training in the knowledge and fundamental skills useful to math tutors. Through readings, lectures, class discussions, group work, and activities, students will be introduced to the academic and personal skills that characterize effective tutors. The course will provide an introduction to contemporary learning theories and learning enhancement techniques and will assist students in developing appropriate applications to individual and group learning situations. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered fall semester.) 3 credits
