MATH 440 - Topology


Prerequisite, MATH 211  or MATH 215 . Topology studies the general concept of continuity and those properties of spaces that are preserved by continuous functions. Some important topics include construction of topological spaces and continuous functions, nets and filters, density, connectedness, compactness, metrizable spaces, separation axioms (especially Hausdorff separation,) Scott topologies, and sober spaces. Letter grade with Pass/No Pass option. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits
