EDUC 571 - Educating Diverse Learners in Inclusive Classrooms


(Same as EDUC 471 .) This course focuses on collaboration, inclusive schooling, and learning characteristics of students with disabilities. This course is designed using fundamental principles of Universal Design for Learning. Candidates will understand the special education as a system, including service delivery models, Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports, the referral process, and Individual Education Plans. Candidates will analyze overrepresentation of students of color in special education, paying particular attention to the role of racial and cultural bias. Fieldwork required. (Offered every semester.) 3 credits
