TCHR 313 - Teaching History/Social Studies for Diverse LearnersPrerequisite, admission to the MA in Curriculum and Instruction program. This course prepares future K-12 teachers in the methods of teaching history/social studies from critical multicultural and social justice frameworks to all students, especially those who are racialized, classed, and gendered in society. The course examines the transformative potential of history/social studies grounded in students' lives and civic engagement. Opportunities to use models of culturally responsive teaching that support student engagement, critical thinking, and character/ethical development will be used with application of current state standards and integration of inquiry skills into history/social studies curriculum and assessment. Letter grade. (Offered as needed.) 3 credits |
